HISTORY:

After the Israeli pullout from South Lebanon in 2000, Green Line conducted a detailed assessment of natural resources in the Rihane Mountain , a region located in the Jezzine province and covering 115km2.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • Assessment of the region's natural resources

  • Highlighting management priorities for rural development

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • The assessment used satellite images and ground validation techniques to determine the state of post war forests, in addition to highlighting management priorities that could promote rural development in the region.

    This project had led Green Line to pursue its efforts in other protected areas and conservation regions in Lebanon including Yammouneh.
