Green Line, the Lebanese scientific association dedicated to environmental awareness since 1991, held a celebratory dinner Tuesday night at the Searock Hotel in Raouche.
Green Liners mingled with delegations from eight Mediterranean countries visiting Lebanon for the Green Line conference The Tree in the Euro-Mediterranean Space: Lebanon Land of the Cedars, currently taking place until Sept. 8.
According to Ziad Moussa, vice-president and head of the organizing committee, two issues will be brought into focus at this conference. The first consists of finding a solution to the land transport dilemma in Lebanon by reducing the number of cars and promoting public transport, walking and biking.
The second issue will be promoting sustainable coast management based on Green Line's belief that the coast is for all the Lebanese and not for only some of them.

The removal of the stone stairs leading down to the sandy coast probably meant that better steps were going to be built, I thought. I was pleased.
Then I received a call from the president of Green Line, a Lebanese environmental organization.
‘You won't believe this,' he said, angrily. ‘They are going to develop Ramlet al Baida.'
